Support
grants are forthcoming from Sita for £24,000 to ensure that Vale Mill Trust
can continue to give the community support with which it has been involved over
the past six years. We were very pleased to receive the Community Award from Sita
for the best Community Project to receive Landfill Tax Rebates in the UK. We also
received an Environmental Award from Gateshead Council for our work with landscape,
grounds and water. The Council also supports us with funding to continue our work
with the less fortunate.
Enough
of the basics, we have now been open for seven Christmases, and the photos over
that period make us realise some of the changes that have happened at The Mill.
Wisteria
has been cut back it flowered for the first time this year (6 blooms). So we hope
for huge hanging flowers in 2005.
Another
feature of the site is the Willow Housem this has now been moulded into an igloo
shape by children and a teacher from local schools.
Bamboo
is now being planted around our pond sides, this gives a beautiful movement in
a breeze.
The
Hydram is now in the process of having it's brick "Ram Chamber" constructed
around the pump ram pipe, this chamber maintains a head of water to feed the Hydram
to stop any unwanted air entering the system.
The
Wind Generator now has lights and cabling to set courtesy lights in motion so
this will be erected early in 2005.
For
the brave one's among you who come on a winter visit, we are closed from Monday
20th December and re-open on Wednesday 5th January 2005. Again a Happy Christmas
from...
Trevor, December 2004
