In
a nutshell there is a lot of progress and activity at the Mill.
The
pond is cleared out and is settled giving us good flow and a lot of wheel running
time.
The
Island Bridges are taking shape very nicely thanks to the hard work and efforts
of our colunteers on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Keep up the good work!
Most
of the Moor hens have flown and the pond is a quieter place. The wildlife is preparing
itself for winter, but aren't we all!!
Gateshead
City LEarning Centre and Teesside University are still progressing our CD which
incorporates a tour of the site and a Virtual Reality working of the Mill. This
is being hastened by Business Partnerships in the hope of having the CD available
for the term before Christmas. Fingers crossed.
The
Pumping Mill is now ready for erection and this has been arranged for Friday 14th
November subject to the availability of the crane and of course depending on the
weather.
I
would say that all are welcome to come along to watch this but please don't crowd
the situation and leave the staff and volunteers a safe margin!.
Planning
consent has been received in respect of the application for change of use of the
two allotments to a reed bed and reservoir. with this consent in hand works can
go ahead to develop the reed bed and reservoir which will result in a change of
image for the western end of the Mill site.
We
have applied for funding for a Hydram which will lift water from the Reed bed
to the Reservoir. This looks like being successful. If we are successful and receive
the Hydram then we shall take professional advice on where to locate it.
The
Hydro Turbine has been ordered from it's manufacturers and should arrive next
month.
I
have just finished a course at the Centre for Technology in Wales which has left
me feeling refreshed and revitalised by my visit there.
Well
now it just leaves me to say that as usual there is a lot of activity at the Path
Head Water Mill - there are very exciting projects underway - the Reed Bed and
the Reservoir all of which we hope will encourage interest into Renewable Energy
at Path Head Water Mill.
